Keys and Staff of St. Peter The Shepherd

Jesus trusted the Apostle Peter with these keys. It was his duty to take care of the common people and govern the church as Bishop.

Staff of Saint Peter

St. Peter's Keys of the Kingdom

    Keys of the Kingdom

These Keys of the Kingdom of Heaven are a highly significant symbol which signifies Peter's authority and role as God representative on earth by extension of apostolic succession, the authority of the Bishops, who are the successors of Christ and Peter's Church on earth. Catholics believe that Jesus chose Saint Peter because of his devotion and trustworthiness. Saint Peter stood by, supported, and understood Jesus. By revelation he confessed that Jesus was the Christ. Peter who is the most devoted of all the Apostles stood by Jesus in challenging times. Catholics believe the Keys of Peter reflect great faith and devotion to God.
