Keys and Staff of St. Peter

Jesus trusted the Apostle Peter with these keys. It was his duty to take care of the common people and govern the church as Bishop.

Staff of Saint Peter

St. Peter's Keys of the Kingdom

    Keys of the Kingdom

The Keys of the Kingdom of Heaven serve as a highly significant symbol that represents St. Peter's authority and his role as God's representative on earth. This authority extends through apostolic succession to the Bishops, who are the successors of Christ and part of St. Peter's Church on earth. In the Catholic faith, it is believed that Jesus chose Saint Peter due to his unwavering devotion and trustworthiness. St. Peter stood by, supported, and comprehended Jesus's mission, ultimately confessing through revelation that Jesus was the Christ. As the most devoted of all the Apostles, St. Peter remained by Jesus during challenging times. The Keys of Peter thus reflect immense faith and devotion to God within the Archdiocese and beyond.
